With so much to see and do, navigating all of Maryland’s offerings can be overwhelming. So, MPT is teaming up with the dynamic duo of Tony Coffield and Sara Fiksdal, hosts and producers of the YouTube travel channel The Detour Duo, to showcase the best of Maryland.
Tony and Sara’s unique perspectives, combined with immersive story-telling techniques, will help first time visitors, new arrivals and long-time residents discover the must-see-attractions and hidden gems that make Maryland the ultimate destination.

Home to Maryland’s highest free-falling waterfall and spectacular hiking trails, Swallow Falls State Park is one of the jewels of the state park system. Tony and Sara meet with park manager Donald Oates to get some inside information before exploring the park.
Tony and Sara take the scenic route from Frostburg to Cumberland using a unique method of transportation: rail bikes. Ride the rails with Tracks and Yaks, and take in the spectacular mountain scenery as you coast alongside the Great Allegheny Passage.
Founded by bluegrass legend Del McCoury, DelFest is a four-day music festival that takes place at the Allegheny County Fairgrounds. Join Sara and Tony as they immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of this annual event, attracting musicians and bluegrass aficionados from across the nation.
If you’ve ever dreamed of operating construction equipment, Heavy Metal Playground is the place for you! Tony and Sara head to Hagerstown to try their hand at digging, scooping, pushing and stacking - culminating in a race through the Heavy Metal Playground obstacle course.
Nestled in the heart of Hagerstown, Pretzel and Pizza Creations tantalizes taste buds with their mouthwatering selection of pizzas, pretzels, and calzones crafted from their signature pretzel dough.

Established in 1683, the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry is the nation’s oldest privately owned ferry service. The ten-minute voyage from Oxford to Bellevue carries you across the Tred Avon River, providing a vital link between these charming communities.

Blu Miles Seafood & Grill is a vibrant, family-owned restaurant specializing in locally-sourced seafood. Overlooking the St Michaels marina, their outdoor patio is the perfect place to unwind after a long day on the water.
Wylder Hotel
Accommodations for Tony and Sara were provided by Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island. The luxurious 19th century boarding house celebrates the traditions of Tilghman Island with fine food, warm hospitality and family-friendly fun.

After a long day of adventure, Tony and Sara seek out a hearty, healthy meal and find the perfect spot in Easton: Sunflowers and Greens. This popular lunch spot specializes in locally-sourced, freshly made salads, soups and wraps.
Tony and Sara are a travel-obsessed couple with a passion for new experiences and adventure.
Born and raised in Maryland, Tony began documenting his travels while serving in the US Navy. In 2020, he and partner Sara began sharing their wanderlust with viewers all over the world as The Detour Duo, exploring sprawling cities, tiny towns, and wild landscapes from a unique perspective.
Now, Tony and Sara are exploring his home state of Maryland - from Deep Creek to the Chesapeake - and bringing their immersive storytelling to viewers on MPT.
